Ultra-Tec Adjust-A-Jaw Tensioner For 1/8" or 3/16" Cable - A-J62
The Adjust-A-Jaw by Ultra-Tec is an exposed, swaged, tensioning fitting that is designed to be used with either pitched or level runs and with both wooden and metal end posts. Because it is a surface-mounted tensioning fitting, it can be used with any type of fitting on the opposite end of the cable run. Use of this fitting requires an appropriately sized ferrule that is to be swaged onto the cable end. Ferrules must be purchased separately.
When installing this fitting, it is important to closely follow the instructions. Because it can be used with both wooden and metal end posts, there will be two separate ways of installing the fitting, each requiring separate parts that are unique to the installation.
For metal end post installation, you must first install a threaded tab into a pre-drilled and tapped hole in the metal post. Once the threaded tab is installed, you will attach the threaded jaw portion to the threaded tab by using a button head mounting screw. The ferrule, which is to be swaged onto the end of the cable, will retain the cable within the body portion of the fitting. Next, the lock nut is to be installed all the way onto the threaded jaw first, followed by the body, which is then secured onto the jaw, allowing for the creation of tension on the cable run. Once your desired tension is achieved, you will again secure the lock nut against the end of the fitting body in order to prevent the fitting from slipping and loosening the cable tension.
- For 1/8" Cable Installations With Metal End Posts, Use Ferrule F-4, Mounting Screw SC-6 and Threaded Tab TT-6B
- For 3/16" Cable Installations With Metal End Posts, Use Ferrule F-6, Mounting Screw SC-6 and Threaded Tab TT-6B
For wooden end post installation, you must first install a lag eye into a pre-drilled hole in the wooden post. Once the lag eye is installed, you will attach the threaded jaw portion of the fitting to the lag eye by using a button head mounting screw. Once your desired tension is achieve, you will again secure the lock nut against the end of the fitting body in order to prevent the fitting from slipping and loosening the cable tension. For Sleeved Posts With An Outer Diameter Greater Than 4 1/2", Use Extended Length Lag Eye LE-6L.
- For 1/8" Cable Installations With Wooden End Posts, Use Ferrule F-4, Mounting Screw SC-6 and Lag Eye LE-6
- For 3/16" Cable Installations With Wooden End Posts, Use Ferrule F-6, Mounting Screw SC-6 and Lag Eye LE-6
