How to Order CityPost Cable Railing
Ordering a CityPost Cable Railing System from Simple Cable Railings is a simple process built to keep your project on track. Whether you are planning a deck, balcony, or commercial railing, the online ordering process covers every key decision, from post height and cable type to mounting style and custom add-ons. The order you place online is a preliminary quote. Once submitted, a member of our sales team will follow up to confirm all the architectural details and finalize your configuration before anything ships.
Below is a step-by-step walkthrough of how the process works, along with answers to common questions. If you would rather talk it through before placing an order, give us a call at (888) 378-1139 or email sales@simplecablerailings.com.
Step 1: Browse the CityPost Category Page and Use the Filters
Start on the CityPost Cable Railing Systems category page. On the left side of the page, a set of filters lets you narrow down the options based on what matters most for your project. Use the filters before browsing individual products to save time and zero in on the right configuration.
You can filter by:
- Post Height: 36" or 42", available in base-mounted and fascia-mounted styles.
- Color: Black, White, Gray, or Bronze. Custom colors are available upon request.
- Cable Material: Steel, Stainless Steel, or Aluminum.
- Grade: Standard or Marine Grade, depending on your environment and corrosion requirements.
Step 2: Select a Product That Fits Your Project
Once you have filtered down your options, click into a product listing to review the details. Each listing shows the color, post height, cable type, grade, and price. These systems are sold by the linear foot, so the quantity you enter at checkout equals the number of linear feet you need. Ordering 20 linear feet means entering a quantity of 20.
The cart total at checkout is a preliminary estimate, not a final charge. A member of our sales team will follow up to confirm your full system configuration, including cap styles, post types, stair transitions, and corner layouts. Each product page also includes a downloadable brochure and order form if you want to get a head start on the details.
Step 3: Configure Your Hardware Options
Before adding to cart, the product page will ask you to make a few selections. These choices match the hardware in your order to your specific installation. Here is what each option covers:
Surface Mount Hardware
Choose the substrate your posts will be mounted to. Select Concrete Mounting Hardware for concrete surfaces or Wood Mounting Hardware for wood decks and structures.
Mounting Type
This determines how your posts attach to the structure. Fascia Mount (side) attaches the post to the side face of a deck or beam. Surface Mount (base) secures the post to the top surface. Not sure which one applies? The sales team can sort that out with you during the follow-up call.
Additional Custom Options (Per Linear Foot)
These are optional upgrades you can include with your order:
- Black Cable & Hardware (+$19.95/ft): Upgrades cable and hardware to a matching black finish.
- Base Plate Covers (+$6.65/ft): Decorative covers that hide the base plate hardware for a cleaner look at the base of each post.
- Gate (+$864.50): Adds a matching gate to your system. Gate specifics will be confirmed with the sales team.
- No Top Rail (-$6.65/ft): Removes the top rail from your order if your project calls for a different solution.
- IRC Handrail Upgrade: Upgrades the top rail to meet IRC handrail code requirements for graspability, a common requirement for stair applications.
Step 4: Add to Cart and Place Your Order
With your selections made, add the product to your cart and proceed to checkout. Enter your linear footage as the quantity, review everything, and complete the order. The total at checkout is an estimate based on your current selections. Try to get your linear footage as close as possible, but the sales team will confirm everything before the order is finalized and processed.
Step 5: The Sales Team Will Follow Up
After your order is submitted, a Simple Cable Railings sales representative will reach out to review the details of your project. They will confirm cap styles, post types, stair transitions, corner layouts, and anything else specific to your installation. This follow-up is what turns your preliminary quote into a complete, accurate order ready to ship.
